As the New York Giants edge closer to their playoff dreams, second-year wide receiver Jalin Hyatt is proving indispensable to the team's aspirations.
The Rising Star
Standing at 6 feet tall and weighing 185 pounds, Hyatt has transformed his regimen to prepare for the relentless demands of an NFL season. He is focused not just on refining his skills but also on gaining essential muscle mass.
"It's definitely hard for myself (to gain weight). Some guys, it's easier for them to gain weight or gain muscle. For myself, it's harder. I burn a lot of calories quick. I'm just one of those guys that's got to just keep eating," Hyatt admitted. This acknowledgement underscores the rigorous routine he must maintain to stay competitive in professional football.
Unconventional Diet with Uncrustables
Interestingly, Hyatt has adopted an unconventional dietary tactic—incorporating Uncrustables, the iconic frozen, individually wrapped peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. As part of his plan to bulk up, these snacks play a critical role in his diet.
"PB&J's was one of my biggest things, because you want to eat your full meal. You don't want to eat a little bit and drink a protein shake. Then you're not really getting anything. So, for myself, finishing, completing your full meals, and then, an hour later or 30 minutes later, that's when you put in an Uncrustables or a PB&J or a little protein shake," Hyatt explained. This calculated approach to his nutrition highlights his commitment to achieving optimal performance levels.
A Legacy in the Making
Selected in the third round out of Tennessee, Jalin Hyatt has demonstrated remarkable progress and resilience. His performance on the field has been nothing short of influential for the Giants this season. One memorable highlight was his 58-yard reception, pivotal in the Giants' narrow three-point victory over the Cardinals in Week 2 of the 2023 season.
In another standout performance, Hyatt recorded two catches for 75 yards in New York's 14-7 victory over the Commanders in Week 7. Each game sees Hyatt stepping up at critical moments, reflecting his growing importance within the team.
Breaking the Century Mark
Perhaps the most notable highlight of Hyatt's season was during Week 12, where he notched his first 100-yard receiving game in the NFL. This performance was instrumental in the Giants' tight victory over the Patriots, firmly cementing his status as a rising star within the league.
Hyatt's achievements on the field are mirrored by his high expectations and considerable dedication off the field. "For me, I always set high expectations. Just looking at our team, looking at what we got—for goals, I just want a team goal. We have a playoff team. That's what we want to do. That's our focus and we're gonna get there," he remarked. These words reflect his confidence and the collective ambition driving the Giants this season.
With each passing game, Jalin Hyatt’s commitment to improvement and his contributions to the team become increasingly evident. As the Giants continue their playoff push, Hyatt's role will undoubtedly be a key factor in determining their success.
